The U.S. Department of Justice ruled that intrastate online gambling – other than sporting events or contests – is legal under the Federal Wire Act, giving states the authority to legalize online gaming. Consequently, states can now sell lottery tickets on the Internet – if they choose to do so. We firmly believe that Congress should not take action to encroach on states’ rights to implement and regulate Internet gaming within their own borders – especially lottery tickets.
